May 11th Elementz hosted a welcome reception at our new site 1100 Race St. Guests from all over the city came out to see what the location had to offer. Along with giving tours of the new site, we also showcased performances from Kre8v and some of our new members of the S.T.A.R.S. program. Guests also had the opportunity to speak with board members and staff about our expanded mission and future plans for the center. Hopefully, with the success of the reception, Elementz’ member base will grow significantly. Thanks to everyone who came out to participate and show their support. Elementz Creative Director and emerging black leader, Akhe Abdullah, is making his return to the music world with the release of his first solo album JOURNEY: The Sound of Life. The album is a musical collection of his instrumentals from past to present and will be available online and in select stores on May 22nd.  JOURNEY will be the first album to be released by Elementz newly established entertainment company, Elementz Creative Group (ECG).

On Friday May 25th, 2012 (Final Friday) ECG will host a special album release party for Abdullah at Elementz and also layout their forthcoming initiatives.  Join Abdullah and ECG in kicking off the release of the album and the launch of Elementz Creative Group.

On Friday May 11th Elementz welcomed Cincinnati into its new home at 1100 Race St. The evening was soundtracked by our DJ’s with performances by members of the S.T.A.R.S. music program and members of Elementz dance company, Kre8v.   Our graffiti artists painted a live mural on the corner of Central and Race.  Throughout the evening Elementz staff and youth leaders gave tours of the new building to the large gathering of visitors.  We also had media coverage through WCPO Channel 9 news who featured the event on there nightly news.  View the short news video above.

Recently Elementz Creative Director, Akhe Abdullah, was blessed with the opportunity to represent Elementz and talk about our upcoming Welcome Reception on the noon show with Tanya O’Rourke of WCPO Channel 9 news.  If you missed the interview you can view the embedded video above.

This April, Abdullah and RStreetz went to The Wiz 101.1 studios to record a promo for The Elementz reception. They were also able to have a live On Air with EJ Greig where they discussed the community, the new building, and the future of Elementz.

Kre8v recently competed in Cincinnati’s Best Dance Crew competition for spring of 2012. Congrats to our dance Krew’s H! M810ance for placing 2nd and Un!dent@fyd for placing 3rd.
